The STEMLER Timeline
1925
1925
Frank Stemler, Sr. began the Stemler Plumbing Company, working out of his home in Jeffersonville. He drove a school bus and after dropping the children off at school, removed the seats and performed plumbing service calls until time to re-install the seats and take the children home.
Frank Jr and Ralph Stemler were born during the Great Depression and would start work in the family business later for their father.
1940
After surviving the Great Depression, the business hired its’ first outside employees which included Houston Eggenspieler, Frank’s brother-in-law from Utica, Indiana.
1945
Frank Jr. begins serving as president and Ralph as Vice-President of Stemler Plumbing.
1947
Stemler Plumbing built a stand-alone business at 812 E. 10th Street in Jeffersonville where the residential division still stands today.
1950
1950
Stemler Plumbing added a retail parts shop to the business with “the most extensive inventory of parts in the Fall City area”.
1961
Frank Juniors' wife, Betty joined the family business and served as secretary and treasurer.
1975
1976
Steven Stemler, Ralph’s oldest son, starts working part-time in the business.
1979
Ralph’s wife, Carolyn, took over as secretary and treasurer from Betty.
1978 – 1981
Third generation plumbers, Steve Stemler and Richard Stemler join the family business full-time. They brought in computers, expanded the service area, added 24-hour emergency service, hired additional employees, and expanded into commercial and industrial services in both Indiana and Kentucky.
1989
Steve Stemler begins service as President and Richard Stemler as Vice President of Stemler Plumbing.
1999
Two-acre site purchased for future growth to include Stemler Irrigation and The Stemler Corporation. Stemler Irrigation was created as irrigation demand began to grow.
2000
2006
The Stemler Corporation, with Steve Stemler serving as President, expanded further into the commercial and industrial plumbing company in Indiana and Kentucky regions that continues to grow today. The Stemler Corporation services local and national general contractors.
2020 & BEYOND
The Stemler Corporation continues to grow adding such services as process piping, site utility work, irrigation on athletic fields such as soccer, baseball, softball, and football. We service general contractors, providing excellent quality workmanship and materials!
